For my portfolio plug-in, I used Grid Kit by wpsofts. They offer a responsive design that works on any screen size, multiple layout options, and you can even choose what animation effect you’d like to use when the mouse hovers over the image. Other beneficial features I discovered were the ability to tag and categorize photos and then be able to filter them, share them to social media, and easily post shortcode to publish on your page quickly!

I selected this plug-in, after having tried a few, because it was the easiest to use and understand. I was able to configure my portfolio the way I wanted without running into any issues. Their support page can be found here.
